Charles D. Baker II

Provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen and Massachusetts residents with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Charles D. Baker II Scholarship has been established by his grandson, Charles D. Baker IV, to honor the memory of his grandfather who, despite experiencing significant hardship in his life, approached each day and each challenge in life with persistence, optimism, and grace. Charles D. Baker II never had the opportunity to pursue higher education but served his country with distinction and ensured that each of his children completed college studies. Please note: deadline to apply is March 17th.

  2. Required Essay: Write a 750-word essay entitled “Learning from Life’s Lessons.” The essay should address the following: 1. A difficult time in your life, and why was it difficult? 2. How did your perspective on life change as a result of the difficulty? The essay is an important element of the selection process and should emphasize the importance of persistence and optimism.
